Park Shin-Hee
Abstract
Background: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of metamemory strategy on the memory performance of adults with brain injury.

Methods: Metamemory strategy intervention was administered to the stroke patient receiving out-patient therapy and a single subject design was employed. The intervention was administered for 10, 3 times per week for 5 weeks, and metamemory strategy program was used. Changes in the patient`s memory performance ability was measured with Seoul Verbal Learning Test(SVLT), Rey Complex Figure Test(RCFT). Changes in memamemory were measured using Multifactorial Memory Questionnaire(MMQ).

Results: Immediate recall score and delayed recall on SVLT was 12 and 0 each for pretest, 24, 5 each for posttest. Immediate recall score on RCFT was 11 for pretest and 22 for posttest. Eacheach MMQ-C, MMQ-A, MMQ-S score were 10, 61, 38 each for pretest and 39, 33, 38 each for posttest as memory beliefs were improved but there were no changes observed in memory knowledge.

Conclusions: Based on the results of this study, metamemory strategy program may improve motivation and memory performance ability by using memory strategies.
